Should I Get Laser Lipo?

If you’re trying to improve your appearance with diet and exercise, you may still end up with places on your body that don’t look as slim as you’d like. If that’s the case, Laser Lipo may be able to help with these stubborn bulges.

What is Laser Lipo?

Laser Lipo, which is short for laser-assisted liposuction, is a treatment that’s used to reduce fat in exercise-resistant areas such as the thighs. The procedure is non-surgical and non-invasive.

What happens during the procedure, and how does it work?

Unlike regular liposuction, Laser Lipo delivers a wave of laser light that heats the skin from the bottom-most internal layer to reduce the size of fat cells. It also stimulates the production of collagen, which helps tighten your skin over subsequent months.

During the procedure, you’ll be comfortably seated in a reclining position. “Cold” laser paddles will be placed on the skin that’s being treated, with each section taking about 10 minutes. In some cases, sections can be re-treated for an additional 10 minutes. Multiple treatment sessions may be recommended.

The procedure doesn’t hurt, and as the lasers pass into fat tissue, it stimulates the fat to melt through pores. Water, fatty acids and glycerol move into the space beneath the skin’s fatty layer, reducing the size of your fat cells. Melted fat is then transported away by your lymphatic system and expelled from the body.

What are the benefits of Laser Lipo over other weight loss procedures?

Laser Lipo has the following benefits:

  • Non-invasive
  • Painless
  • Performed in-office
  • Usually yields results after your first treatment
  • Used for both men and women
  • Allows you to use inches of fat by utilizing the body’s own mechanisms
  • No downtime

Who makes a good candidate for Laser Lipo?

You may be a good candidate for Laser Lipo if the following apply:

  • You’re within 30% of your ideal body weight.
  • You’re in generally good health.
  • You’ve dieted and exercised but still have bulges.
  • You have good skin elasticity.
  • You don’t have a lot of excess skin (such as what can occur after a dramatic weight loss).

Are there any side effects?

Laser Lipo can cause a change in the color and texture of your stool during the first week after treatment. That’s because your body is getting rid of liquefied fat. Other than that, the treatment doesn’t usually cause any side effects.
